Terms & licence

Last updated 14 August 2026. These terms govern your purchase and use of the Shilpi WordPress theme.

The short version Buy a licence, build as many sites as your tier allows, and keep whatever you build. A licence buys the AI layer, automatic updates and support. If it lapses, the AI connection switches off, the builder keeps building, your pages keep rendering, and your markup stays yours.

1. What you are buying

A licence to install and use the Shilpi theme, to connect an AI agent to it, and to receive updates and support for the licence period. You are not buying ownership of the theme’s source code, and you are not buying the right to redistribute it.

2. Site allowances

  • Personal: one production site.
  • Pro: five production sites.
  • Agency: twenty-five production sites for one organisation.

A production site is one the public can reach. Local, staging and development installs are unlimited on every tier. You may deactivate a licence on one site and activate it on another as often as you need.

3. Billing

Each tier is sold either as a one-time payment or as a yearly licence. A yearly licence renews automatically at the same price until you cancel it, and you may cancel at any time from the account link in your purchase email. A one-time licence is never billed again.

Payments are processed by Freemius, our merchant of record, who issue the invoice and handle any VAT or sales tax due in your country.

4. Client work

You may build sites for clients under your licence, charge whatever you like for that work, and hand the finished site over. The site continues to render after handover whether or not your key remains active on it.

If a client wants their own AI connection, updates and support, they buy their own Personal licence and you may release that site from your count.

5. What you may not do

  • Resell, sublicense or redistribute the theme itself, including inside a bundle or a “starter kit”.
  • Remove or obscure licensing checks in order to activate more sites than your tier covers.
  • Publish the theme source publicly.

Building and selling websites made with Shilpi is exactly what the licence is for. Building and selling Shilpi is not.

6. What you own

Everything you create, the markup, the stylesheets, the JavaScript, the templates, the content, is yours. This is not a courtesy clause; it is the point of the product. You may take it anywhere, at any time, without asking us.

7. When a licence lapses

One thing switches off: the AI layer. Both MCP endpoints stop answering and no agent credential will authenticate against them until a licence is active again. The switch is remembered, so activating a key brings the server straight back.

Nothing else changes. The builder keeps building, the design system keeps applying, your templates keep routing, your forms keep collecting, and every page you have published keeps rendering exactly as it did. There is no watermark and no front-end notice. Automatic updates stop and you are no longer entitled to support. Your visitors are never affected.

8. Refunds

Request a refund within 30 days of purchase and we will process it. We will ask what did not work, because that is useful to us, but an answer is not a condition of the refund.

Refunds are not available where a licence has been used in a way this agreement prohibits.

9. Support

Support covers the theme: installation, features, bugs and reasonable questions about how to achieve something. It does not cover writing your site for you, debugging third-party plugins, or server administration, though we will usually point you in the right direction anyway.

10. Updates

We ship updates when there is something worth shipping. We aim not to break existing sites, and we do not rewrite your stored markup during an update. Where a change requires action from you, it is documented in the changelog before it is released.

11. Warranty and liability

The theme is provided as is. We do not warrant that it is free of defects or that it will suit every purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability under this agreement is limited to the amount you paid for the licence in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death, personal injury or fraud. Consumer rights under your local law are unaffected.

12. Termination

You may stop using the theme at any time. We may terminate a licence for a material breach of section 5, after giving you notice and a reasonable opportunity to put it right. Sites you have already built remain yours in either case.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future purchases. Changes do not apply retroactively to a licence you already hold, except where required by law.

14. Contact

Questions about these terms go to support@shilpibuilder.com. Questions about whether your particular situation is allowed are welcome too, we would rather answer in advance than argue afterwards.
